Civil Estimator - Renewable Energy Civil Contractor

Location: Houston, TX

Position Overview: The Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil scopes of work on energy construction projects, including but not limited to solar, wind, battery storage, and utility infrastructure. This role involves analyzing drawings and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, sourcing pricing, and collaborating with internal teams and subcontractors. The Estimator ensures bids are thorough, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.

Key Responsibilities

Project Estimation:

• Develop accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects related to renewable energy developments.
• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare comprehensive and competitive bids.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.

Cost Analysis:

• Conduct in-depth cost analysis, considering material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
• Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and industry benchmarks to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

Bid Preparation:

• Prepare and submit well-organized and professional bid packages by project requirements and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the business development team to review bid strategies and ensure alignment with company goals.

Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:

• Source and negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms.
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to enhance the company's competitiveness.

Proposal Development:

• Work closely with proposal teams to develop compelling proposals highlighting Sendero Energy Services' strengths and capabilities.
• Ensure that proposals align with project specifications and requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Civil Estimator in the construction industry, focusing on renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of civil construction processes, including earthwork, drainage, and utilities.
• Proficiency in estimating software, including HeavyBid, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
